Patsy Cline Lives in Branson!
(Written by D. McCaslin)
Branson is replete with a number of outstanding shows that pay tribute to great entertainers from both the past and present. From the revolving acts at “Legends in Concert” to solo artist and bands paying tribute to Elvis, George Straight, Hank Williams, John Denver and even the Eagles.
But there is one show in Branson that chronicles both the life and the music of one of the first female superstars of country music. The artist that brings the legacy of Patsy Cline to life four nights a week is celebrating almost two decades as a headlining entertainer in Branson.
Tracy Lynn DeMille, a descendant of legendary film maker and producer Cecil B. DeMille, has received numerous nominations for Female Vocalist, Tribute Artist and Entertainer of the Year in Branson for her uncanny sound alike voice and stunning look-a-like to the “First Lady of Country Music”.
“Absolutely…Patsy” is a must stop for any fans of traditional country music when they visit Branson, anytime during the year.
While the original Patsy Cline may have perished in a tragic plane crash on March 5, 1963 in a rural Tennessee setting, the talent, spirit and sultry styling’s of the Country Music Hall of Famer comes alive at twilight at the intimate, family-friendly venue in historic downtown Branson… the Hot Hits Theatre.
Ms. DeMille, who has become one of the most recognized tribute artists in Branson Missouri, and quite possibly the entire United States, combines passionate powerhouse vocals with antidotes about the life and times of Patsy Cline to take each audience on a true and genuine journey.
“Patsy fans don’t want to hear just a little snippet of her songs in the midst of a production,” said Ms. DeMille. “That’s the reason that my show features full length songs the way they were meant to be performed and the way her fans want to hear and remember them.”
The intimacy of the small venue at the Hot Hits Theatre combined with the incredible transformation of the vivacious Ms. DeMille into the embodiment of Patsy is an incredible process and one that no fan of traditional country music should miss.
In her 17th season of delighting Branson audiences, Ms. DeMille shares the stage at Hot Hits with several other acts including Motown Downtown, Chico Vega’s Tribute to Doo – Wop and the Drifters, and finally Michael J’s Barney Fife and Friends.
But the curtain opens on “Absolute…Patsy” at 5 p.m. and the 80-minute show gives patrons the chance to schedule an “evening” show into their itinerary since the production is finished by 6:20 p.m. each night.
There is also a quaint 50 s style coffee and soda shop in the lobby of the venue at 206 South Commercial Street. The theatre is within easy walking distance of all the popular shops, restaurants and attractions in the historic district.
“Seating is extremely limited at the theater and we urge fans to call in advance and make reservations to ensure they will be able to see this show on their visit to Branson,” said Ms. DeMille. “We have fans that come back year after year, but I’m always excited to see new faces in the crowd that love Patsy and her music as much as I do.”
“Absolute…Patsy” opens February 12th and runs through New Year’s Eve.
