Fall Foliage in Branson

Aaahhh... the beautiful colors of fall. They are coming quicker than you think. If you're a motorcycler and love to ride on curvy old country roads, in the cool fall temperatures, while the multi-color autumn leaves are falling... then Branson Missouri is where you ought to be this fall. Located in the heart of the oldest mountain range in North America, the Ozark Mountains.

The beautiful fall colors start to come forth about the 3rd week of October. Unless of course we have Indian Summer. The way the weather has been this year in Branson, it's anybody's guess though as to the exact week those amazing reds, golds and browns may start peeking through.

Autumn is by far the most colorful time of year in Branson. It's also the time when the weather is most desirable. Hitting around 70 for a daily high and then dipping down in the 50's overnight. This is the season for campfires and marshmellow roasts fo sure. But don't stop there, go ahead and break out some weiners and buns as well.

There's nothing like camping on the lake and smelling the water and fire while singing songs with family and friends around the campfire. Hmmm... kind of reminds me of an episode of the Brady Bunch. Oh, you like the Brady Bunch you say? Well then, while you're here in Branson check out Barry Williams' (aka/Greg Brady) new show 70's Music Celebration! You're guaranteed to have a "groovy and far out" time.

If you do like camping on the water however, Branson has three incredible lakes to choose from. And you don't have to stay 20 miles outside of town to experience it. As a matter of fact, there is a wonderful campground that sits right on Lake Taneycomo in Historic Downtown Branson. You can literally walk to Bass Pro Shops and the Branson Landing from your campsite.

Speaking of Branson Landing, if your fishing expedition isn't as successful as you'd hoped it would be, don't worry... you can enjoy Ozark food at it's finest at Bass Pro's White River Fish House Restaurant. I personally eat there about twice a month and I must say, it's one of my favorites here in town. The portions are huge though, so either come hungry or plan to take a doggie bag home. Of all the"Chicken-Fried Chicken with White Gravy" I've eaten, this place is hands-down the best ever!   I know, it's kind of weird to order "chicken" in a "fish" house, but I'm not kidding, it's the best I've ever had. I've also devoured their Beer Battered Cod plate a time or two and it is head and shoulders above any cod out there.

If you head one block west from the Branson Landing on Main Street, you'll be at the old train depot. The depot had been refurbished and is now the home of the Branson Scenic Railway. Fall is the best time to ride the train, because you can view all the beautiful foliage from one of the 4 original "observation" cars from the 1940's. You will literally be taking a trip "back in time" when you board this train.
